Less is More

We tend to think the way to improve is through addition— more initiatives, stuff, relationships— but it’s subtraction that enriches and energizes our lives.

Below are a few ways we can do more with less;

  1. Subtract a Goal/Priority

    • Constraining to one goal at a time helps us to get it done faster, with more intention and focus

  2. Subtract Unnecessary Meetings

    • Take stock and remove meetings that don’t serve a clear and defined purpose

    • If a meeting cannot be canceled, think about meeting for less time and creating an agenda

  3. Subtract People/Relationships

    • This one is difficult but sometimes necessary— quality over quantity, people

    • Sometimes it’s appropriate to walk away from a relationship rather than looking for ways to “fix it”

  4. Subtract Stuff

    • When we get rid of things we’re not just making physical space, we’re opening up mental space.

Like plants, we need to prune to make room for new growth.
