Less is More
We tend to think the way to improve is through addition— more initiatives, stuff, relationships— but it’s subtraction that enriches and energizes our lives.
Below are a few ways we can do more with less;
Subtract a Goal/Priority
Constraining to one goal at a time helps us to get it done faster, with more intention and focus
Subtract Unnecessary Meetings
Take stock and remove meetings that don’t serve a clear and defined purpose
If a meeting cannot be canceled, think about meeting for less time and creating an agenda
Subtract People/Relationships
This one is difficult but sometimes necessary— quality over quantity, people
Sometimes it’s appropriate to walk away from a relationship rather than looking for ways to “fix it”
When we get rid of things we’re not just making physical space, we’re opening up mental space.
Like plants, we need to prune to make room for new growth.
Question: What can I subtract from my workload to focus on core projects? What one commitment can I remove from my personal life to get back some energy?
Action: Subtract one thing this week— personal and/or professional.
