New Year’s Resolutions that Matter

The new year is full of potential and so are you. That potential can only be realized if we’re committed to taking care of ourselves— so let’s make resolutions aimed at doing just that.

Below are a few ideas for 2023 New Year Resolutions inspired by The Connect Newsletter Archives;

  1. Ask for Help

    • Say yes when people ask if they can help

    • Request help at least once a week

  2. Be Kind to Yourself

    • Give yourself one honest compliment a day

    • Create a mantra and repeat it daily— stick it to your bathroom mirror on a post it note

  3. Stay Connected

    • Check in on a friend each week

    • Attend one event a month to meet new people

  4. Befriend Failure

    • Find ways to fail once a day/week

    • Keep a failure journal and record what was learned from each failure

  5. Prioritize Sleep

    • Create a bedtime routine and follow it at least 4 out of 7 days a week

  6. Take PTO

    • Use all of your PTO before the end of the year

    • Set aside PTO for self care days and do things that honor your self care language

  7. Say No to Distractions

    • Decrease screen time by 50%

    • Turn off notifications when doing focused work

  8. Keep Commitments to Yourself

    • Schedule at least 2-3 hours each week for “thinking time” and honor it

Question: In what ways did you struggle to put yourself first in 2022? What commitment can you put in place to change that in the New Year?

Action: Make a NYE Resolution that encourages you to take care of yourself in 2023
