The Case to Delegate

Delegation is more than asking for help, it’s a way for you to show you trust your team and recognize others’ strengths.

Below are four reasons why you should be delegating more often;

  • Creates Time

    • Tasks take time and the more time we free up by delegating, the more time you have to focus elsewhere.

  • Increases Trust

    • When you delegate, you’re showing teammates that you trust them to get it done and do a great job.

  • Helps Others Develop Skills

    • Delegation gives others the opportunity to try new things and use different parts of their brain.

  • Discover a Better Way

    • Having a new set of eyes on the task allows for new ideas to surface and better ways to emerge.

Question: What one task (at work or home) can be delegated?

Action: Delegate it to someone whose strengths it fits or who could benefit from learning how to do it.

“Deciding what not to do is as important as deciding what to do.” - Steve Jobs

“The first rule of management is delegation. Don’t try and do everything yourself because you can’t.” -Anthea Turner
