The Perfectionism Problem

Perfectionism is the constant need to be flawless and striving for it can cause more harm than good.

Below are just a few problems with perfectionism;

  1. Perfectionism = anxiety & stress: Perfectionists strive for unattainable standards.

  2. Negative self-talk: Perfectionists criticize themselves for not meeting their high standards.

  3. Procrastination & avoidance: Perfectionists fear not being able to complete a task perfectly.

  4. Reduced creativity: Perfectionists may feel constrained by their own rigid standards and fear taking risks or making mistakes.

  5. Strained relationships: Perfectionists may have high expectations of others and may become critical or judgmental when those expectations are not met.

Don’t worry my fellow perfectionists, next post you’ll get solutions.

Question: What are you avoiding doing for fear of making a mistake or being judged?

Action: Do it. Practice self-compassion and remind yourself that you are worthy and valuable regardless of your perceived imperfections.

💜  a good quote…

"Perfectionism is a twenty-ton shield that we lug around thinking it will protect us when, in fact, it's the thing that's really preventing us from taking flight." - Brené Brown

"The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself." - Anna Quindlen
