Success isn't about never struggling. It's about having these tools to support you when you struggle. I have to practice what I preach to my clients every day. Everything that I say to them for inspiration, everything that I say to them to help them change their perspective so they see themselves differently, I have to take that in myself too. And I really do sometimes lean on this podcast or lean on some of the things I said in the coaching container to my clients and I have to treat myself as my own client.

Welcome to How to Quit Your Job, the podcast for moms ready to ditch the nine-to-five and build a life and business they love. I’m your host, Jenna Rykiel. Let’s go.

Hi, mom friends. Welcome back to the podcast. Before we dive in, I just had one of those really surreal little moments. This is episode 83. 83. We are flirting with one hundred here, people. If you had asked me any time before June 2024 when this podcast started, whether I saw myself hosting a podcast consistently every Wednesday with people listening all over the world, I would have confidently said absolutely not.

But that's the beauty of this journey, right? Sometimes you can't even envision what's possible for yourself until you're already living it. And I want that feeling, that holy crap, look at what I created feeling for you too. So thank you. Truly, truly, truly, truly thank you for being here, whether you're a longtime listener, a new follower, or someone who just needed to hear something supportive today, I am grateful for you. All day, every day.

Now, today's episode is a little different. It's not a checklist or a three-step strategy, though you know me, we'll probably slide in a mindset shift or two here and there. Today is about inspiration. And I want it to also be about possibility. It's about what becomes available in your life when you say yes to change and when you make a commitment to yourself.

Because what I've realized, especially over the last year, is that the things I love most about my job aren't the things that most people would expect. And when you hear them, I think you're going to see a version of your own future that maybe you haven't been able to imagine yet. Maybe you haven't been able to dream about. If you're stuck or tired or burnt out or feeling undervalued or feeling like life is happening to you instead of for you and with you, I want this episode to be the spark that reminds you that a new life is available.

A different version of you is available, and it doesn't take years. Sometimes it just takes one yes, one commitment to yourself. Let's get into it because I'm really excited about this topic.

I want to talk about the three things that I love most about my job. And I feel this is super selfish for me to talk about why I love my job. But like I said, I think that you'll find so many aha moments and value in just me talking about it. Because really what I love about my job has so much to do with the change that the moms I work with are able to create.

So the first thing that I love is I love the unexpected results my clients create outside of starting a business. This is the one people are probably most surprised by because yes, starting a business is exciting. I love helping moms choose an idea, step into their CEO identity, and create their first revenue. It's thrilling. And it's tangible. It's amazing. But the truth is, it's the things they didn't come for that change everything.

When moms come to coaching, they think the problem they need to solve is that they don't have a business, and they want a business. They want more flexibility, they want meaningful work, they want financial independence, they want out of a nine-to-five grind. But no one walks into this container as just a business owner or as an aspiring business owner. It isn't just about creating the business so that they can become that business owner.

These moms walk in as full human beings, of course. They are a mom navigating identity shifts, they are a partner navigating relationship stress. They are a woman carrying trauma, grief, resentment, self-doubt. They are a person who feels like she's failing at everything because she's carrying everything. And all of that, every emotion, every story, comes with them into entrepreneurship.

And you don't have to fix your whole life before starting a business. In fact, starting a business and getting support to step into this bigger version of yourself often becomes the doorway for healing, for growth, and self-understanding. Moms think that they're coming in for a business strategy, but they end up changing their entire life.

Okay, I've had clients on the brink of divorce rebuild their marriages. I've had clients who are terrified of having another baby and then go on to feel emotionally resilient enough to have a second child that they never thought they could handle, moms who experienced really traumatic birthing experiences and really traumatic experiences in postpartum who now feel like they have the tools and the capability to make this second time a much different experience with the coaching tools.

I've had clients tell me that people in their lives pull them aside and say you seem different. Lighter, happier. Like what are you doing? And that ripple effect is one of the things I love most. Starting a business becomes the catalyst. It opens the door to possibility again. Okay, you start seeing yourself differently and suddenly things you took off the table years ago become available again. And all it takes is saying yes to your dreams. And I am so grateful to be in a position to be able to witness that, which I will talk about as my second point that I'll share.

Sometimes it's easier to take action and commit to starting a business and to get support that we never knew we needed. And I love, love, love watching all of the really great things in people's lives change. And I love watching everything happen outside of the business. I love that they start businesses, I love that they impact the world. That's all great. And what gets me up in the morning is the identity shifts and the feeling like a amazing mom and the becoming a better partner and the feeling more fulfilled. All of those things really are a gift.

The second thing I love about my job, I love being a part of everyone's comeback story. This one always gives me chills because every mom I work with, even the ones who are tired and stressed and stretched so thin, they're in the middle of a comeback. Most of us can remember a time in our lives when we felt more energized, more hopeful, more connected to ourselves, and coaching becomes that turning point where you start returning to that version of yourself and then expanding beyond her.

In the space of coaching, people are allowed to see, moms are allowed to witness and figure out that they're not behind, they're not broken, they're not failing. They are in the middle of a comeback story. They just haven't hit the plot twist yet. And I get to witness women going from burnt out and overwhelmed to confident, decisive, energized, and deeply aligned with the life they wanted.

Similar to the first point, I see the identity shifts, I see more smiles, I see less rushing and more intention. I see mothers reconnecting with joy and partnership and their own dreams again. And being invited into someone's transformation on such an intimate level, I think of it as sacred work. It's the greatest privilege that I get to sit and bear witness to these amazing moms who are making a comeback, whatever that means to them.

The third thing that I love about my job, I love that I get to practice what I preach. This might be the most important one to my life and family. Because I am a human with the same fears and doubts and responsibilities and overwhelm and mental clutter and mental chatter that all of my clients have and that all of my listeners have. Listen, I know you. You've got mental drama and mental chatter. I do too. I'm not above the work. I'm not immune to fear of failure. I'm not immune to imposter syndrome or self-doubt, right? I'm not magically confident every day.

And because of that, I rely on the same tools that I teach. And I have to practice what I preach to my clients every day. Everything that I say to them for inspiration, everything that I say to them to help them change their perspective so they see themselves differently, I have to take that in myself too.

And I really do sometimes lean on this podcast or lean on some of the things I said in the coaching container to my clients and I have to treat myself as my own client. I do have my own coach, right? I use thought work daily. I regulate my nervous system. I question my beliefs. I revisit and get to know my future identity that I'm becoming. All of those things because I'm a human and I need that same support. And it's a beautiful thing that I get reminded daily in the coaching sessions about advice and wisdom that I need. It's a beautiful thing.

Success isn't about never struggling. It's about having these tools to support you when you struggle. Okay, my husband and I talk all the time about how the coaching tools and the awareness and having someone to see our blind spots, all those things have carried us through the hardest seasons of parenting, especially early on.

I remember shortly after my first son was born just constantly feeling so much resentment and so much anxiety and all of that would have spiraled 100% if I didn't have these tools, but instead, the tools helped me shift into gratitude. I remember weeks of overwhelm where I felt like I was failing everyone and the tools helped me reset and get into a better headspace instead of collapse and spiral, which is what I maybe would have done before my own work in this industry.

All of these tools, they make me a better mom, they make me a better partner, a better business owner, a better human. And practicing what I preach has changed my life as much as it's changed my clients' lives. I learn also so much about myself through them and through their struggles and through them overcoming their struggles.

So those are the three things that I love most about my job. I know there's a million other things, but I was feeling really inspired just to talk about those because I think they're inspiring. And I think that we can see ourselves in them, in the changes that people are able to make in their life. And it might feel selfish, it might feel like you're wanting too much or asking for too much that you want to start a business, but it's not just about starting a business. It's about stepping into the version of yourself that you know you can become. This bigger version of yourself.

The real heart behind why I do this work is the unexpected, life-changing results beyond business. Let business be the catalyst. Let the tangible work that you do starting a business and bringing an idea to life be the thing that changes everything about your life in the most beautiful and positive way. I love being a part of every woman's comeback story. Everyone's living it. I love getting to use and live the tools that I teach every day.

And I hope in hearing these, something sparked for you. Maybe you can suddenly picture yourself or picture a version of your own life you couldn't imagine before. Maybe you're realizing you don't have to wait to start building the life you actually want or the business you actually want. Maybe you're realizing that you can be a hot mess and still start a business because starting a business will help you work on all the things that are coming up outside of, of your life that maybe feel too heavy to focus on.

I always say that motherhood and business are the two greatest personal development journeys in disguise. We all know motherhood challenges us every single day. Business can also do that in the same ways that motherhood does, right? Motherhood makes us a better version of ourself. In our strongest moments, I'll say. And entrepreneurship does the same thing.

And maybe hopefully you're noticing that your comeback story is already in motion. I mean if you're listening to this podcast, it means that you want to create some sort of change in your life. And by listening to this episode, by listening to this podcast, by following this podcast, what you're doing is committing to more conversations, to more ideas and perspective shifts that will help you get there.

And if you're listening to this and you're thinking, I want this kind of change too, the change that Jenna's talking about that her clients experience. The unexpected change that we aren't focused on or thinking about.

I offer a free one-hour consultation call. So definitely take advantage of that. This resource is free. That resource is free. That one-hour call is oftentimes that catalyst that moms need to start creating that change. How often do we get one full hour just to ourselves to focus on our dreams, our obstacles, how to move through it, and really getting advice and clarity on what we need to do next.

On that call, we talk about what's feeling heavy in your life right now. What you want your next chapter to look like. We talk about what's getting in the way and how coaching can support your comeback, support your identity shift, and really help you with the business strategy piece so that you can put it all together. It's a space just for you. It's the first step in answering that call that you feel right now that you want change and you want something more.

Do not underestimate the value of one hour that's completely dedicated to you and your dreams. The link to schedule a free consultation is in the show notes. You can go to jenna.coach/83 to get the transcript for this episode, to get some of the resources. I have tons of free resources on my website, the PDFs and everything from coming up with your business idea to planning out your networking strategy. Right? There's PDFs for all of it, so make sure you check it out.

And definitely take advantage of that consultation call. It's one hour where you get to just unpack all of the heavy things in life that you want to change and then leave the call feeling really energized to make it happen. I would be honored to be a part of your story even if it's just for that one hour.

We have a few more episodes together this year. There's so much to look forward to in the new year. Make sure you follow the podcast so you don't miss a beat. Take care of yourself these next few weeks. They get hectic towards the end of the year. And we tend to take a back seat or our health tends to take a back seat. So definitely keep yourself as a priority. And I will see you next week
